NEW : See my campaign to establish a National Coastal Path here
This blog was set up to document my walk around the Scottish Coast which I started in June 2005.
I wanted to do the walk because I thought I wasnt quite ready for the knackers yard; I had time on my hands, and I enjoyed both walking and being by the sea. I’m not the first to do this walk and I certainly wont break any records for walking it in the quickest time. However I also wanted to do something “significant” – something that I personally thought was worthwhile doing. It may not be significant or at least appear not to have a “point” but then what is the point of a human life anyway. This isnt a flippant comment by me, but rather a deep curiosity I have always had about the meaning or purpose of one’s life. The walk therefore, by its very nature would provide me with lots of time to ruminate on the great imponderables!
I have no time scale in which I want to complete the walk but I hope that the site will allow others to at least see (via some of the photos I have uploaded onto the Flickr site) how beautiful Scotland is, and hopefully will even inspire them to visit some of these places if not walk around the coast themselves.
You can see the blogs for the individual walks by selecting them from the calendar or clicking on them from the sidebar on the right side of this page.
This blog is dedicated to my daughter Emma and my son Jamie – it is only thanks to modern technology that I am able to collate random thoughts into a sense of order, which may may give a sense of who I am.
