Michael dropped me off first thing back at Garelochhead as he had a long drive home ahead of him with a busy week ahead. So I set off for as final day’s walk alone. I had intended just walking to Helensburgh, but I got into my stride and kept going all the way to Cardross. Just as began my walk I met a guy who was also walking around the coast in stages. He was doing various sections and had walked the Fife Coastal Path and Ayrshire path as well as around the Clyde. Im not sure how much he intended doing, but it was interesting meeting a fellow Coastal Walker.
I climbed the hill up past the base at Faslane, and the followed the heavily barbed wired fence all the way until I eventually reached the little marina at Rhu. From here it was a short walk into Helensburgh. There was a guy playing jazz trumpet sitting on a bench on the promenade. At the moment I past him the sun came out and, like Michael the day before, he stood up and gave a cheer. I had to smile.
